Serial Numbers

While the Luxembourg scope contract is believed to be on its own serial number range (Johnson, 2019). It is unclear if the Belgian scopes share the same serial range with other latter contract scopes.

Based on the scopes below, it appears that Belgian army scopes start to appear in FN FAL dust cover mounts starting in 1958. This would match up with Belgian army adoption of the FAL in the mid 1950s.
This might also explain the apparent gap in production of scopes between 1953 and 1958 while the army adopted a new service rifle.
